I decided to make a summer bucket list this year, but kept it rather simple. I know that in midst of my 26th year I would have wanted to put very big things such as, "travel to Europe, go on a cruise, go skydiving." While those may be things I do want to do I chose to keep it more achievable. Keep it within my budget, time, and energy. As I sat there making this list I had realized that these were things I wanted to do as a teenager.
I remember making summer bucket lists when I was younger. They had involved smaller things like, "tie dye shirts, go to the movies with friends, and have a water balloon fight." You would think that these things can be easily done as a teenager, right? I lacked the money, transportation, and my friends lived in various parts of town that made it difficult to get together.
Creating this list ended up being a way to heal my inner teenage self. I now have the (limited) funds, time to make for myself, and a car to get around. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy myself. I can go out and have fun without having to do something extravagant.
2022 Summer Bucket List
Go to a museum/aquarium
Watch an opera (The Met Live HD)- May 7th. Watched, "Turandot." Went by myself early in the morning. It was a lovely opera. I cried a couple times.
Road trip - June 4th-6th. Took a road trip to LA with a friend. We went to see Ricky Montgomery at the El Rey Theater. We got very drunk. It was so fun!
Hiking
Drive in movies
Eat at Ross J's
Hang out with a different friend every two weeks
Have a picnic (with friends or solo)
Watch the sunrise
Watch all the Harry Potter movies
Sleepover- May 13th. Went to a Phoebe Bridgers concert and then slept over at a friends house.
Volunteer work- July 7th. Mount Charleston volunteer day with coworkers. We picked up trash. Afterwards, we went out to have brunch.
Read a book- Mid to the end of June. "Saint Anything," by Sarah Dessen. I wanted to read a young adult novel, something I would have loved as a teenager. I used to read Sarah Dessen when I was younger. Although it is weird to read a YA novel as someone in their mid 20's, I still enjoyed this book. It made my little heart flutter.
Go roller skating
Photo shoot
Cook a meal for friends
Take a dance class
Get a tattoo (at the end of summer)
Go on a date
Eat at a really fancy restaurant
I hope this inspires y'all to make a simple summer or yearly bucket list. It really does heal a part of me as I sort of missed out on fun events as a teenager. Thanks for reading!
